Cheryl Redmond is an active participant in the Loveland community. She has a passion for dental health education and helping others as well as helping those that reach up to help themselves and their neighbors.
The office of Dental Hygiene Fitness has been an active participant with the Hope Lives Foundation in Fort Collins for many years. Cheryl offers dental screenings, cleanings and education to women that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Cancer treatment can be devastating to a persons immune system. If treatment for cancer begins and a woman already has gum disease, the disease can and will progress at an accelerated rate. Because of this, a person should have their oral health examined by a dental professional and a thorough dental cleaning performed prior to and during chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
A part of the Health District of Northern Colorado, Dental Connections helps people who are low income using an affordable sliding fee scale. The participant pays their fees to Dental Connections to help sustain the program for future participants. They have over 40 dental providers in Larimer County who volunteer to provide dental care. Cheryl has helped many people in the Fort Collins and Loveland area with dental care.
Colorado implemented dental care for Medicaid recipients beginning June 2015. Dental Hygiene Fitness supports and promotes optimal oral health by educating and offering dental hygiene services to those people who qualify for treatment under the Colorado Dental Medicaid program.
This annual event takes place in early November. Cheryl has been a volunteer since the first Homeless Connect in 2012. With the help of several local dentists, they offer oral screenings, oral cancer screenings and help triage people to local dental professionals and Dental Connections. This event is like a one-stop shop for the homeless or near homeless in our community.
Cheryl joined the Loveland Chamber in April 2010. Shortly after joining the team, she became an Ambassador with the Chamber. Cheryl is the secretary for monthly Ambassador meetings and volunteers for many community events. Promoting local businesses at Ribbon Cuttings, volunteering with the Corn Roast Festival, Loveland Valentine Re-mailing program, Business Before Hours, Business After Hours and always reaching out to connect other businesses.
During Dental Hygiene school many of Cheryl’s colleagues would joke that ‘she thinks she’s going to save the world’s teeth’. Cheryl continues to educate and treat those that want to make every effort to maintain healthy gums and teeth for a lifetime.
